Illinois farmers made quite a splash in the national corn and soybean county production estimates released by USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS)

The top four counties in total corn output last year in Illinois also rounded out the top five nationwide with Iroquois County at 64.7 million bushels followed by Livingston (61.8 million), LaSalle (60.5 million) and Champaign (57.9 million).

For total soybean production, Bolivar County in Mississippi and Cass County in North Dakota placed second and third behind McLean County nationwide. The next four highest soybean producing counties were all in Illinois - Iroquois County (19.1 million bushels), Champaign (18.2 million), Livingston (17.9 million) and LaSalle (17.1 million).
